KERRY'S NOTES: ‘In my painting 'North Facing' I wanted to capture the bleakness of a Northern winter. The short grey days, freezing winds, the sooty grey colour of the snow/ice & endless freezing temperatures.’
QUOTE: “The way was long, the wind was cold,
The Minstrel was infirm and cold;
His withered cheek, and tresses gray,
Seem’d to have known a better day.” --- Sir Walter Scott
QUOTE: "In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter, long ago." --- Christina Rossetti
