MOTHER NATURE
KERRY'S NOTES: ‘My oil paintings offer opportunities for social engagement by exploring & interrogating the world around me. In my more recent works, I have been examining the complicated tapestry of my southern African heritage. My painting 'Black and White' borrows the beauty of the animal kingdom & uses the zebra to look at race relations. Seeing the natural world— & its own precarious state—as merely a reflection of historical & present-day human social injustice. To go forward we must go back. It is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.’
